Lake Baldeney is the largest of the six Ruhr reservoirs. It is located in the south of the city of Essen between the districts of Werden, Bredeney, Heisingen, Kupferdreh and Fischlaken. At Lake Baldeney, which was once created by damming the Ruhr, there are many different recreational opportunities. You can walk all the way around it, cycle or inline skate around it without having to use busy roads. The lake is also surrounded by forest in many areas.
